A walk on the beach always managed to clear Kimberly s head at night With the smells of the island in her nose and the warm surf at her feet, nothing could be better Until she saw a man floating in the water, and from the time she dragged him to safety, he turned her life upside down Duncan Fergusson turned out to be than a drunk tourist He was a Scottish pirate who traveled through time He took her breath away with passionate kisses and a need that couldn t be denied This was all in the midst of helping him understand this new world he now lived in Kimberly never felt like this before, and her heart was at stake Would she find her happiness in Duncan s arms Or would the pirate of the Dark Reaper hurtle back through history with her stolen heart in his possession

First, let me being by saying I love time travel stories To wake up, find yourself in another century and having to adapt to all the changes So many plots to be had Would have loved to seeof the struggle Duncan faced while adapting to modern society.Although, it s fiction, please don t overlook minor details One example how could he have flown without having proper identification or a passport Maybe it s different in the islands, but since I live in the US, that bothered me It s First, let me being by saying I love time travel stories To wake up, find yourself in another century and having to adapt to all the changes So many plots to be had Would have loved to seeof the struggle Duncan faced while adapting to modern society.Although, it s fiction, please don t overlook minor details One example how could he have flown without having proper identification or a passport Maybe it s different in the islands, but since I live in the US, that bothered me It s petty I know, but sometimes my analness kicks in This was an okay read, so please give it a go

I realized quickly that this story would demand that I suspend my disbelief, which was okay, because it was a fantasy And boy, what an interesting fantasy premise It rains men A yummy, Scottish pirate I didn t even know there were Scottish pirates But Duncan Ferguson was one and he was cast into present day by an angry water goddess. Now, with belief suspended, and ignoring such trivialities as ID and passports and knowing how much a million is back in the 12th century and a Scottish man fr I realized quickly that this story would demand that I suspend my disbelief, which was okay, because it was a fantasy And boy, what an interesting fantasy premise It rains men A yummy, Scottish pirate I didn t even know there were Scottish pirates But Duncan Ferguson was one and he was cast into present day by an angry water goddess. Now, with belief suspended, and ignoring such trivialities as ID and passports and knowing how much a million is back in the 12th century and a Scottish man from the same 12th century speaking perfectly understandable English, the real problem that I found was lack of character development. If Kimberly passed me in the street, I would not be able to identify her Alls I knew was that she was a black, Caribbean painter who had one sexual experience that was nothing to shout about, and that she was annoyed with the tourists around her secluded island home Oh and she had curly hair.I knew a little bitabout Ducan because of the prologue where we see how he was cast into the present There I got a little bit of the interaction between him and his crew and swooned a bit when he sacrificed himself for his beloved crew But, it was not enough to setup the moral lesson at the end of the story. In my opinion, women areinterested in why characters do what they do Rose did a fine job at explaining what the characters did, but I never got a clear understanding of neither Kimberly s nor Duncan s motivations as characters I feel that was because their characters were not developed enough on the page I wonder if I had knownabout Kimberly s first intimate experience would that have made me understand her instant attraction to Duncan She got the hang of sex quick and was open to some advanced things whip lash fast Duncan developed feelings for Kimberly very quickly and I wondered what it was about her that he saw I wanted to know too He also got physical with her quickly, but he was high born Don t noble men take the time to court the women they have intentions for The speed with which he bed her, as well as the manner, bugged me because I wanted it written clearly that he had serious intentions for her and that she was not some floozie Race was not a factor in this story, but it was in my head I needed Rose to assure me that Duncan wasn t after Kimberly as a dark novelty Yes, yes, I know that this was supposed to be just a fantastical roll in the hay but I felt it had the smell of somethingAnd I yearned for it to be There was even a moral to the story and an attempt to make things cyclical But not enough groundwork had been laid in the prologue for the moral to stick.I ll definitely read something else by this author because I think this story was a good idea with an unexpected plot, I just needed a deeper understanding and description of the characters to feel satisfied
